LONGEST DAY PARTYING BACK ON THE HILL OF TARA. Lovely Lora, the Irish Witch Queen, researches the lost secrets of Tara. Druids & pagans were back on the Hill of Tara as it reopened for annual festivities today. Druids Michael McGrath of Kilkenny and John O'Connell of Kerry found the lovely Irish witch queen Lora on her knees researching a standing stone in the old Tara churchyard. Lora has degrees as long as your arm! A well-known author and champion of women's equality, Lora O'Brien runs pagan education courses and has written several factual books on such subjects. She has also been a curator of ancient sites. It was worth it to be at Tara just for one of the many delicious meals offered at Maguire's restaurant - while bookshop owner Michael Slavin told us that such is the interest that he has sold 30,000 copies of "The Book of Tara" he wrote some years ago. At 20 Euro each, he's a rich man already and they're still selling like hot cakes. Some spiritual types conducted ceremony at the restored well there, while upon the central mound the hot subject was the ley lines of earth energy coursing through Tara, with maps and compasses to hand. That fabulous Irish Indian druid Michael Poynder, author of the brilliant book illustrated, was commemorated on the central mound by his friend,Michael McGrath of Kilkenny. Published over 20 years ago by Rider & Co.,London, it's available on Amazon. Michael was expert on precious gemstones and crystal working. Druids McGrath and O'Connell dowsed some leys with their rods, while pendulums were used too. You had all the new age divinations being tried out in Maguire's shop from Tarot Cards to astrology programs. Lovely people Michael Maguire and his family have lived for eight generations on Tara. It's great to see business back to normal on Tara again after being shut down for the pandemic. The Archdruid declared he never enjoyed the day so much in all his 29 years attending the Hill of Tara for the Summer Solstice. The Chief Scribe, John O'Connell of Dublin was busy spreading the message that Irish governments have wronged the Irish people mostly, especially the homeless, that there was no need for the lockdowns and that the Ukraine war is not the cause of all the price increases and inflation. Asked if druids should stay out of politics, John replied that Druidry has always had a social dimension, that they were the government of ancient Ireland as councillors to the kings. A wise man, and a tolerant one - though from Kerry he has lived in the Liberties of Dublin for years and also has a house in Liverpool that he uses for health reasons. The druids will be back on Tara again for the festival of Lughnasadh on Monday 1st August .
